Artist Bio

Mary Margaret Moore is an emerging contemporary dance artist, who over the last 9 years has moved between three homes, three sites for study and work: Paris, France; Albuquerque, New Mexico (birthplace); and Vienna, Austria.   Her inquiry into dance and performance is guided by improvisational and somatic practices as well as the Lecoq tradition of physical theatre and a strong commitment to varied technical training.  Since 2005, Moore has worked as dance interpreter and generative collaborator.  In the last 2 years, she has sharpened her focus to fueling the creation of work herself.

Now settled in Seattle, WA, since May of 2010, in addition to her creative work, Moore has applied a concerted effort to stimulate dialog between artists and between artists and the larger community.  Partnering with Velocity Dance Center and other artists in Seattle, Moore is developing new discursive programs and initiatives such as: The Body Book Club, Speakeasy, and STANCE: journal of Choreographic Culture (to launch summer 2012).
